Commission Prices

Probably a good idea to let those of you interested in commissions what my price list is. When I do a signing or a convention, I charge 100.00 for a black and white pen and ink sketch of a character. It's on nice Strathmore paper and usually will have some black colored pencil shading on it.
Sometimes, I take advance commissions for a couple of painted sketches if I have time to do them. Those prices are as follows for a black and white watercolor wash ,8 1/2 x 11 size, the price is 250.00. A full color one of the same size is 500.00. Those are on watercolor paper or a thick ply Strathmore ( I do Magic Trixie on that). I won't be able to do any painted commissions before this signing, but I have the space on my schedule for 2 more black and white ones. I usually scratch out some quick sketches in sharpie marker at the signings or 'make some magic for the people'-as sketch hound John Swanson calls it...but the commissioned pieces obviously get more time spent on them. I never hack anything out, but the advance ones get the good art supplies.

Hi Jill,

I' a very big fan of Scary Godmother and would lie to buy one of its original sequential lineart pages. I've epeatedly tried contacting the guys at jillthompsonart.com with my request for one of the pages there but get no answer after an initial "thank you for your interest, we'll get back in touch with you". Do you have another art broker, or do you sell pages directly? I'm really, really interested in owning one of your pages from such a great character. Thank you.

which page are you interested in? All of the art from the first book is owned by Robb Horan, the publisher of the Scary Godmother books. Let me see what's going on with comicbookpros.com. I want you to be able to get what you want. I'm sure it's just mixed signals.

Thanks for writing back, Jill!

The piece I have my heart set on is the first (unnumbered)page from The Search for Mr Boogeylegs, with Hannah Marie finishing her homework on top and a group picture at the bottom.
If unavailable, I'd be interested in page 22, where Mr Boogeylegs arrives at the part, or page 1, where Hannah Marie is looking out of Scary Godmother's window.
All three seem to be available at jillthompsonart.com.

BTW, I just got your Magic Trixie book from Chapters at Montreal, one of three copies available, at the YA/Kids graphic novel section. Can´t wait to start reading it.

If I EVER had a lot of money I'd soooo want to commission you.

That would rock my flipping socks.

Maybe one day. =) (when I'm a famous artist hahaha....)

Do you draw other people's characters in commissions? As in, if I asked you to draw one of my creations, could you do it? =3 *curious*

Hi Jill,
My wife has been a fan of your art for years and would love nothing more than to commission you for a sketch. What is the best way to contact you in regards to this?
