Painting Not for Work

One of the THINGS on MY LIST for 2009 is to paint at least one thing a week for something other than work. Like, for fun! Or for future ideas. To actually have a sketchbook for fun. The trouble is finding the time amidst real work and household everthings...Thank goodness I had an occasion. I was already afraid I'd push this aside for more pressing things, like doing the dishes or something. This one is for our friend Mike's birthday. Shh. Don't tell him. It's a suprise! Gotta get back to Lucca, Italy.

Very nice. Not dreaming of warmer climates already? How many colors did you use? It looks like three or four, but I would like to know for certain, if you please.

Hi Jim, that was a three color piece. I love a limited palette. They sometimes are more effective than full color. Hmm. I might have dabbed a fourth color somewhere... It was indigo, burnt sienna and cerulean blue for the sky. An I might have cheated and used a raw sienna or an ochre for a light was on the left hand side.
